Our Winner, Paula Kuhnemann

I found out late yesterday that Paula will soon have back surgery, but she was so delighted that she immediately sent out several posts and photos to go here for her prize. Please pray for her speedy recovery. Now, here is her first post. Read and enjoy!

My Inspiration

Make Each Day A New Beginning (Ralph Waldo Emerson)
Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders & absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This day is all that is good and fair. It is too dear, with it's hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on yesterdays.

Favorite Mommy Blogs Nominations

For the past few weeks, I've been frequenting some seriously wonderful mommy blogs. However, I bet I didn't even touch the surface. So, here's what I want to do:

I need you all to help me find the best mommy blog ever. Leave a comment with the name and link to your favorite mommy blog. You can recommend yours or someone elses. I'll let my readers choose one mommy from those blogs to feature here on my blog for one week with special posts, little interviews, business blasts, etc. So, let's get them nominated this week and we'll have the vote next week. Everyone get ready, set, NOMINATE!

February 3rd ~ Empathy

What in the world is empathy? What does it have to do with love?

Empathy gives you the ability to understand the feelings and motives of another person. That's important when loving others. Not every person in the world has the most lovable personality. In those situations, we need to understand them to love them.

Imagine the grumpy old guy next door. Whether you know it or not, that man probably hasn't always been that way. Somewhere in his life, he was hurt and no one taught him how/he refused to let go of the pain. So, hurt turned to bitterness and bitterness to grumpiness. Now, no one wants to be around him. We all know people like that, but we're commanded to love them. You do this by empathizing with him. You do this by choosing to understand his life and his own pains. It's amazing what empathy can do for your love walk.

February 2nd ~ Compassion

Today's keyword is compassion. Compassion is the ability to show sympathy or be profoundly aware of another's suffering and desire to alleviate it for them. The Bible says Jesus was constantly moved with compassion.

In my own life, I tend to have compassion for those who've endured sexual or physical abuse, those who were raised in broken homes, and those who've made bad decisions that seem to haunt them.

During this month of love, be moved with compassion for others. Just because you can't understand their pain doesn't mean that you can't understand the very nature of pain itself. A person who has ever been hurt should be able to show both sympathy and empathy to those who are hurting.

First Day in the Month of Love

I've heard people call February the month of love all my life. I suppose Valentine's Day has plenty to do with that. So, for the first day of February, I'm sharing my definition of love.

Love, from a Biblical perspective, can take on three forms -
~ Agape or unconditional, God love
~ Felios (Phileos) or brotherly love
~ Eros or romantic love

No matter which form of love you view, they all have this one thing in common. They all are defined by giving. Love gives because it isn't selfish or conceited. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. We love our brothers and sisters and because we love them, we give them our time and attention, even our money. When you love your spouse, you give him/her you... all of you. You give your spouse your body, your time, your attention, your affection and more.

So, for the first day of February, I'm focusing on the giving aspect of love. What have you given lately? Who did you give it to? During this month of love, I'm going to give my time and affection to those I love.
